Investing in more reliable biological crop protection: B-COS joins the VP Capital portfolio

18 May 2026 – An investment in Ghent-based biotech company B-COS marks the latest addition to VP Capital’s agrifood portfolio, alongside Agri Investment Fund (AIF) and Biotope by VIB, to support the further development of the company’s precision fermentation platform for biological crop protection.

B-COS develops biological crop protection products using precision fermentation designed to improve consistency and reliability for growers. Its technology platform can be tailored to address a range of agronomic challenges, including fungal diseases, nematodes, and drought resilience.

“Agriculture is at a turning point, where the need for reliable alternatives is becoming increasingly clear. What convinced us in B-COS is not just the technology itself, but its potential to make biological crop protection a dependable choice in everyday farming practice.”

Alongside the investment round, B-COS also entered into an early discovery collaboration with Nichino Europe, the European subsidiary of the Japanese crop protection group Nihon Nohyaku.
